Survey Services Pty Ltd a company based in Perth WA, Newcastle NSW and Byron Bay NSW, is looking for experienced Asbestos and Hazardous Materials Consultants in northern NSW and Perth to join our operations.

Role

The Asbestos and Hazardous Materials Consultant is a key member of the Occupational Health & Safety, Occupational Hygiene and Property Risk division. The incumbent will utilise their industry experiences to provide project consulting and management in the planning and execution of project work (internally and externally) and to provide clients with business advisory services and technical support to projects and activities.

  • Undertaking asbestos/hazardous materials audits and sampling.
  • Conducting a full range of compliance air monitoring for friable and non-friable asbestos works and visual inspections during Asbestos/Hazmat remediation projects.
  • Maintaining existing client relationships to expand regional business opportunities and services via proactive consultancy.
  • Preparing accurate reports in standard formats.
  • Maintaining and building good relationships with clients.
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally and interstate.

Key Relationships

  • This position works closely with the Principal/Director. As an integral member of the team, you will work closely with personnel of varying disciplines throughout the business.
  • External to the business, this position has regular contact with clients, suppliers, and contractors in a wide range of industries.
  • Skills and experience in project management, project management systems development and strategic project advice.
  • Consultation / communication skills and facilitation of meetings and presentations.
  • Contributing through excellent project delivery.
  • Manage technical work and relative to contract scope.
  • Writing and preparing proposals, budgets, and reports.

Skills and Experience

  • Licensed Asbestos Assessor; or
  • Demonstrated experience to allow for the application as a Licensed Asbestos Assessor; or
  • CPCCBC5014A – Conduct asbestos assessment associated with removal.
  • CPCCDE5001 – Conduct Air Monitoring & Clearance Inspections for Asbestos Removal Work
  • Previous experience within the building consultancy industry.
  • Sound knowledge of building life cycle including design, construction, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge across building structure and building fabric.
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards, National Construction Code of Australia, and other relevant Codes of Practice.
  • Successful track record, and proven management/project experience (any industry).
  • Communication skills – can get written messages across that have the desired effect.
  • Communicates with passion and conviction.
  • Commands attention and can communicate at all levels.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, and ability to develop a strong client base.
  • Good knowledge of various industries within Australia.
  • Able to use Microsoft Office packages.

Package

  • Salary or Contract Rates are negotiable and based on experience.
  • Must have own vehicle, company vehicle provided after qualifying period.
  • Four weeks (pro-rata) annual leave, plus all statutory public holidays.
  • Company work wear and PPE supplied.
